State Convention 2020
SNA-SC State Convention 2020
The Student Nurses' Association of South Carolina welcomes you to our 68th annual state convention, being held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC on January 10-12, 2020.
"Together Towards Tomorrow" is the theme for this year, and is inspired by our desire to bring the nursing schools and SNA chapters of South Carolina together to accomplish great things.
Annual Convention provides students with opportunities to listen to speakers from around the state on a variety of nursing topics and specialties. The exhibit hall will feature prominent South Carolina hospitals, schools, and other nursing opportunities for students to explore.
Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is offering convention attendees a 10% discount for the entire weekend. Just show them your convention badge when you pay!

Hurst NCLEX review: An amazing opportunity to hone in on test-taking skills before graduation!
At convention, we will be accepting donations for Lowcountry Orphan Relief. Lowcountry Orphan Relief is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide goods and services to children who have been neglected or abused. They need gently used or new shoes. They also need toiletries that consist of toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, lotion, dental floss, brushes, diapers, wipes, bibs, and pacifiers. A full list of items needed can be found at the registration desk. The School Chapter that accumulates the most points from the criteria listed below will receive the Community Health Award at the Annual Convention. We also encourage you to bring all of your loose change for the Penny Wars. Half of the money collected will be donated to a charity of the winning school's choosing. Please reach out to Charity Pippin (email@example.com) with questions/concerns.
We will be holding a Trivia Night on SNA-SC history and sponsors. Be on the lookout for hints as we get closer to the convention. There will be great prizes to win!

"Delegates are responsible for electing the best possible national officers for the Board of Directors and Nominating and Elections Committee members. Delegates are encouraged to seek the opinions of their constituents present at the meeting in helping to arrive at appropriate decisions." For more information, check out:
SUBMIT A RESOLUTION
We like to encourage everyone to consider writing a resolution. Resolutions are written statements that are the basis for policies and actions of the NSNA. This is another great opportunity to get involved at the state level and potentially the national level. Please view the PowerPoint going into detail about how to write a resolution for the SNA-SC state convention:
You can find more information about resolutions from NSNA here
Resolutions are DUE December 15th. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Clarissa Salas, Legislative Director (email@example.com) with questions!
RUNNING FOR THE SNA-SC EXECUTIVE BOARD
Becoming a member of the SNA-SC state board is an invaluable experience in which students have the opportunity to get involved in a higher level of leadership. As a state board member, students can improve their professional development to lead and mentor other student nurses across the state. Here is the Candidate Packet which explains in detail the positions that we will be voting on at convention. In addition, you can find application for the state board positions.
Please encourage your chapter members to attend this convention and apply for a position, as it would be a great opportunity for all members. Although the deadline to be included in the convention booklet has passed, we will be accepting applications up until convention. During convention, you will be able to run from the floor. Please reach out to Disney Cuddington (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions/concerns.
You and your SNA chapter may be eligible for convention awards. Here is the Award's Booklet for the 2019 Annual Convention:
Please distribute this packet to your SNA members, as there are awards on both the individual and the school level. For those awards that require applications, remember that all applications are due by midnight EST on December 15th. Please email all applications to email@example.com with the subject line pertaining to the award you are applying for. Be sure to attach any supplementary documents that the award requires you to submit.
