State Convention 2015
Future Fever - Ignite Your Career
64th Annual SNA-SC State Convention
Myrtle Beach, October 2-4, 2015
LETTER TO CONSTITUENTS
This is your President-Elect Shawn Guerette speaking. SNA-SC would like to convey our sincerest apology to you for the cancellation of the SNA-SC State Convention. I am sure you have many questions and concerns, which I will try to address in this email.
The convention was canceled due to a severe weather/flash flood warning. The following information has been provided by local new/weather stations, emergency personnel, and highway patrol.
"HORRY COUNTY has moved to OPCON 3 due to flooding issues, according to a news release from Horry County Government. OPCON 3 means that the storm continues to pose a significant threat to Horry County."
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Rescue crews are responding to roadway flooding and accidents across Horry County and areas of the Pee Dee. Residents are asked to avoid driving if possible because of the dangers of flooding and limited visibility.
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH According to North Myrtle Beach officials, water is accumulating on Highway 17, making driving very dangerous. Drivers are warned to slow down and be very cautious.
"North Myrtle Beach has about "10-12″ of water across the road. A Nixle alert from North Myrtle Beach officials warns drivers of how little water is actually needed to create very dangerous driving conditions."
Many individuals have requested a refund for the cancellation of the event. Unfortunately SNA-SC will not be able to provide any refunds. SNA-SC is a non-profit organization in which the states funds are used strictly for the purposes of organizing and hosting leadership events, conventions, and providing disaster aid to our constituents. Ticket sale revenue for attendance, and villas is used strictly for the purpose of booking the convention center, and villa rooms. Both of these expenditures are non-refundable to the state organization, and equally non-refundable to our constituents. Because of this we must regrettably deny refund requests.
The SNA-SC Executive Board has turned all attention to planning a secondary event which will be provided free to our constituents. This event will serve to finish off the State Convention to the best of our abilities. We would encourage as many constituents as possible to attend this secondary event to play an integral role in electing the 2015-2016 SNA-SC Executive Board.
SNA-SC would like to provide our most sincere apology for the cancellation of the convention and any inconvenience this may have caused. I hope that your early experiences at convention were great and that each of you will continue to be involved, with a passion for nursing leadership on the local, state, and national level.
The 2014-2015 SNA-SC Executive Board is proud to announce that the Lakeside Convention Center in Myrtle Beach will be the site for the 64th Annual State Convention, to be held October 2-4, 2015. "Future Fever-Ignite Your Career" is this years theme and will focus on your future career. It will be a must attend event for you and your fellow nursing students! The 2015 SNA-SC Convention will include an NCLEX review and numerous focus sessions focused on your education and future career as a registered nurse!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SODA TABS & BOX TOPS
Please do not bring soda tabs or box tops to convention.
These items should be donated to your local Ronald McDonald House and local school of your choice, respectively, prior to convention. You should bring a receipt to convention instead. This receipt should be signed from an employee from the donation site and include how many of each item was donated from your chapter.
Do you have what it takes to work in the Operating Room? Teams of two students, one team per school compete against one another in this single elimination tournament. Winners get a prize and bragging rights for the next year! Check out the video below from last years competition!
Sign-up for your school to bring a basket full of goodies as a drawing prize for fellow SNA members. Be creative and have fun! The total price for the what's inside the gift basket can be no more than $20. All proceeds will go to the SNA-SC. E-mail Savannah at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign your school up."
Another convention tradition is Penny Wars. This is a game to bring a little friendly competition amongst the schools. Each school will have a container associated with it. Every penny added to the container will give that school a point, but here’s where the fun really kicks in. To make sure your school is the winner, you can add any silver coin (nickels, dimes, quarters) to another school’s container to take away points. The school with the most points will receive half of the overall money raised in the Penny Wars!
